A friend has a 53 SM and can't find a new glass or plastic bowl or sleeve for his precleaner. It is different than a 300 or 350. The local IH parts can't seem to find the right one. Any one with ideas. He purchased this new and claims it is a stock cleaner. Thanks

Is it an acutal IH precleaner? If it is anything like the one that came original on my 53 SM, good luck in finding it. I found one similar on a C or Super C once, and know of a 1944 M with one. Mine was broke and someone took black tape and wrapped all around it, so I had little glass pieces, like puzzle pieces, taped together. I found a NOS one on eBay for 50 bucks, and it was likely the best purchase I ever made. Has the directions on it, IH with International Harvestor, will get back on the company that made it for IH though. Can even see through it. Quite the show piece. Everyone notices.

I found a replacement plastic bowl for my Donaldson pre cleaner on my 53 SMD at the local Case-IH dealer. The outside diameter of the plastic bowl is about 7". The dealer's part number is 365413R1, cost $12.12.

I believe that T.H.E. Company sells them new- Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Same place as RPRU. Don't have a phone #, our catalog is at the grandparent's.
If not them, someone does b/c Dad bought a new one to put on his MTA Diesel.
By the way, I'm talking about the Donaldson, not the glass jar.

the Donaldson preclener with the plastic bowl was an option on the super m. They are no longer available. I have one on a super C that I was going to try making a sleeve out of a plastic pop bottle. Might be worth a try.

I am no expert on these things but I don't think that style of pre-cleaner was standard equipment on a super M, rather it was an aftermarket option which may have been installed by the dealer prior to your friend purchasing the tractor. I really don't know when this style would have been standard equipment. You might want to compare yours with what would have been used on a 460 or 560.
