IH 384 - Does the injectors need to be reprimed?

I just posted a message a few minutes ago about a IH 384. I just had anothe question that I forgot to ask in the previous message. If you run the motor out of diesel, which is apparently what happened when someone cut the fuel supply valve off under the gas tank, is there a procedure taht you need to do to get the injectors reprimed with fuel? Or should I just let the motor turn over and hopefully allow the motor to recrank? Thanks.

There should be two filters with bleed screw on top, one on each side of engine. From the seat, the one on the right is primary and should be bled first, then the other. Then crack supply line at pump until fuel escapes to avoid running pump dry. I don"t usually bother with inj lines as it just makes a mess. (Once pump is primed, fuel is going somewhere) I"ve seen a lot of guys just crack inj lines and crank, crank and crank and freeze pump.

Yes there is a simple procedure.

If your tractor has a hand pump on the primary fuel pump you must pump this until the air is out, I don't recommend using the starter until you kow you have fuel to the injector pump, it requires fuel for lubrication.

There should be a place to bleed the filters, be sure the air is all out to that point. Sometimes I also bleed the line to the injector pump. In tough cases I will loosen a few injectors (be careful not to break the fitting), then with a good battery and possibly another connected with cables, start the engine (with the throttle wide open)until it begins to fire. Then tighten all the injectors. Start the engine, be prepared to idle down as it picks up.
