Just bought an Amercian Grader. It has splined rear axles The tag on flywheel housing is missing. Engine number 14701. I have a regular MD farm trator. Is there any other way to tell which it is. Seat steering wheel and all that kind of stuff is different because its a motor grader. Thanks

IHNC, I saw one recently, and although yours could be totally different, the way to tell if its a WD6 or an MD, regardless of the splined rear axle, would be the frame from the flywheel forward as mentioned below, and also the hood and grill are different. The one I saw ws on an M, and the steering shaft went through the hood as on an M, but rather than going into the steering gear under the grill, extended through the grill which had been modified by cutting a hole, and then going into a steering gear assembly directly over the front wheels. The MD grill and hood should be clearly identifiable from a WD6 grilland hood, and of course the WD6 steering box was under the rear of the fuel tank. I hope this helps.

Seems like i recall about a year ago, someone had one of these on here.It had the rear splined axles like a W,but the front tnd was like a regualr row crop, with a heavy duty front axle that was installed by the manufacturer of the grader. The steering had been changed out with their steering and a few other things I cant recall.never determined if it was a W in Ms clothing or what.

Does it have side rails and transmission top like M or cast iron belly and W transmission top? What kind of steering does it have? Just a couple of things to look at.
