Temperature gauge on BN?

Hello-

Thanks to those that have been answering all my questions. :)

I'd like to add a temperature gauge to my BN. Is such a thing possible? I think the shutter option had one, but I don't have that, nor do I have a way of obtaining one. Temperature gauges usually go into the block – I see no provisions for this.

Thanks.

The heat gauge goes in on the top of the cast iron piece that the bottom radiator hose goes on. If you look, you can see where you (I guess) can tap it out to put the gauge end into. Drill it out like you would it you were putting a dipstick in an M.
I just put one on my `46 B, only I took that piece off a parts tractor, and saved lots of headache pills.
Hope I helped, good luck!

But where do I get... in reply to David B, 08-08-2004 09:14:56
Thanks, but where do I get the gauge/sensor itself, and where/how does the gauge mount? How much does it cost?

Thanks.

$9 for the bracket, the correct gauge is 53619DC, for $64 from OEM.

The gauge is just an IH temp gauge, you can get them from IH, OEM, basically anywhere. The gauge mounts on top of the govenor on the right side. It mounts to a metal bracket that bolts to the front of the governor, using the same bolts as the governor. I don"t know the IH number, but OEM has it, part #50495D for $9.00
Call some salvage yards and used parts guys, probably save you some $$.
If you have Guy Fay"s "Farmall Letter Series Tractors" book, look on page 36, where a Super AV is pictured with one.
