Bought me a 1466 friday to use to pull a round haybaler. Can anyone tell me what to expect on fuel consumption and the difference between my 856 and the 1466 pulling the same load on fuel useage. My 856 burns around 2.5 - 3 gal. per hour pulling a 605 XL vermeer round baler that requires a min. of 90 hp. I bale a lot of hill ground and it takes every horse the 856 has on steep hills. The 1466 has a cab and air that works. Also, how much oil does the crankcase hold? A friend of mine has a 1086 and told me his uses around 4 gal per hour pulling a John Deere round baler that also requires a 90 horse tractor. Thanks for any info.

we used to have a 1466 but still have a 1066 and a 1486 and the red tractors allways did good on fule and puling a bailer it isnt going to affect it much and should do better than a 856.

Had a blackstripe 1466 back in the early eighties. We still worked the soil back then,"before no-till became popular".Pulled a 20ft.Forrest City do-all with it.It had a 40 gallon fuel tank and would use 2 tanks in 10 hrs.But man oh man would it shake that do-all.Pulled it at the fair one time.Made a 300ft."full pull" nobody else came close.I was working the tractor in loose cotton ground a lot harder than you,ll ever work it with with a baler. But you have a lot more engine and lot more tractor there than a 856.I'm going to say you can expect to use around 5 gallons per hr.Could be a little less or a little more.Later.
