Anybody know what I'd need to change to swap a mower deck? The Woods L-59 deck is currently on a 1947 Allis Chalmers B. I want to buy it, and mount it on a 1946 Farmall A. Does this require major rework? I'm hoping one of you guys have done it before.

Stan: I did a swap on one this spring that came from a Farmall B and mounted it on my Super A. Those kits are completely different also. We did a complete fabrication of a mounting kit for the Super A. You have to be very accurate or it will tear the belt. I was told that would be quite difficult. The guy that helped me and myself both had quite a lot of experience with belts on host of farm equipment, thus it came quite easily for us. If you would like some photos send an e mail. I only have two photos scanned, not sure just how well it shows the mounting. I have figured out how to e mail photos, although I can't seem to get them on here.

I think the mower deck is the same as the one for the A. The problem is the brackets for attaching to the tractor. I suppose you could buy those through a Woods dealer, but I expect they would be expensive. Not sure what the A has, but the Super A has a heavy bracket that bolts to the front drawbar holes on the final drives. It has two idler pulleys and the pusher bars for the mower. There are two brackets and a cross brace that attache the mower to the pusher bracket. I expect the AC tractor has something similar, but I bet the dimensions are different and likely if you try to juryrig, there will be problems. You would need the v pulley that goes on the belt pulley shaft and a belt too.
