Hey Guys,

Some sticky fingered dude "requisitioned" the center link and it's storage assembly prior to my buying this old tractor.

I ordered the tube and center link from JP Salvage; told them I thought it was the same as a 656.

Long story short, the center link was wrong (Cat III) and had to be returned; still waiting on the correct one.

But, I put the storage tube on this morning, but it doesn't look right since the 686 has the hydraulics mounted up fairly high.

Does anyone know if IH made a design change in this tinker toy? Looks like it is going to be hard to get the hairpin snapped while in between those two hydraulic outputs.

Thanks,

Allan

Bingo!

That's why the little piece which is bolted to the plate is shaped a little differently.

I'll wait till the proper center link gets here and give it a try; if it doesn't work with this tube style, I might have to "prefab" one of these bent wire things.

Looks like they would be a lot handier to use too.

Thanks Guys,

Allan

I thought the 686 had the same top link holder as the 666, which would just be a wire holder that is bent to accept the ball on the end of the top link adjustment handle.
