We own a 1939 Farmall A (Serial Number FAA586). We are interested in knowing all we can about this tractor because we are in the process of trying to sell it.

Hi Sandy, Some of those Farmall A's had a vacuum
lift. I never knew if this was available from IH.
It may have been offered on some tractors. On the A that I restored, it was not on it. With the heavy counterbalance springs it wasn't too
bad lifting implements. The A was very dependable
and easy to work on. You should keep it. Hal

Sandy, If you'll give me more info such as condition, and be more specific on just what you want to know about the tractor, I'll be glad to provide as much help as possible. I was raised on a 39 A so while there is probably as much that I don't know as what I do know, I know quite a bit about the 39's. You can E.Mail if you wish. By the way, where are you located?

This tractor was used mainly for cultivating land. People also plowed, mowed, planted, and many other tasks with this tractor. This tractor was built for the small acreage farmers because of its size and cost. The A Farmall had no hydralics, only hand lifts. The super A came along and increased horsepower and added hydraulics in about 1948. Hope this helps.

Better if you ask specific questions -- what do you want to know?
