I bought a super C about 2 weeks ago,and it will start and run fine for about one minute or so,then it will die and after you wait about another minute it will start again and run fine, and do the same thing all over again, someone had put new plugs and points and condenser, and plug wires on it,would the problem be in the carberator, ithas a carter carb, did these come with a carter?

This spring one of my super C's did about what you are talking about, I took the fuel line off and in the screen there were 2 pieces of oats and a bug. I thought wow I got it, should run real good now. Wrong, did about the same thing, this time I tood the fuel line and the sediment bowl completely off the tractor. The fuel line was clean, but when I took apart the sediment bowl fuel shutoff valve there were 2 house fly's inside. I blew them out and it ran just fine. I never would have guessed that the fuel line would have been plugged in 2 spots, but I had just purchased the tractor.

First off, do the following SAFELY... engine cool, well ventilated area (outside). Have a fire extinguisher handy!

There should be a drain plug on the bottom of the carburetor. Remove it, and watch the gas flow into a catch bucket.

There should be rapid flow at first, a half-cup, or so, as the gas in the float bowl drains out. Then, the flow will taper off to a slower flow.

Slower, but a steady flow of gas that is enough to fuel the engine.

If the flow is very small, or even just drips, you have an inadequate supply of gas to the carburetor.

It could be a plugged filter up in the tank, the screen in the sediment bulb, or there may be a screen in the inlet fitting screwed into the carburetor.

If the gas continues to flow at a reasonable, steady rate, this would point to ignition problems, possibly a bad coil. Have a spark checker ready when it "dies", and immediately check for spark, to verify if lost spark is the problem.
