Hi, I finally got my Farmall A running again after we rebuilt the carb. My dad checked the oil, and it was milky green. Is this because the oil is old, or is this a sign of a bigger problem? We haven"t checked if there was water in the oil yet, but I think we"ll be changing it this week.

Sounds like anti freeze leaked into crankcase, do not run it with that in oil, no lubrication, I would guess you have sleeve orings leaking, it will not get better or heal up so if you want to keep the tractor you should fix it.

In addition to the recommendations of the other post(s), I'd change the oil next, before you run it any more.

Probably old age, and could be condensation, specially if the tractor has been sitting for some time. Change the oil and oil filter - After you run the engine for several hours, let it set over night then check the condition of the oil again. Don't be surprised if the oil looks dirty after only a couple hours of operation. You might want to change the oil and oil filter a couple of times in fairly rapid succession. Check for water in the drained oil after the first and second oil change.
