I talked to the fellow who (gave) me the tractor yesterday & he said it was running fine when he parked it.I think you are right about the rings being stuck in the grooves in the pistons.Do you know of A good mixture to free them up?Thank`s again,Abe.

Hi Abe, What is the status of your Farmall H?
I would squirt some engine oil into each cylinder
and install the plugs and try to start the tractor. Give it a try. Hal

Hi Abe, I had an engine that had good compression
but it was fouling out new plugs within a few miles. Several plugs were wet with oil. I borrowed a bore scope that has a light so you look
into the cylinders. Several cylinders were wet
with oil and I noticed the heavy deposits of carbon on the valves and on top of the pistons.

I pulled the head and I had never seen so much carbon. I removed the pistons and they
had so much carbon in around the rings the oil holes in the pistons were clogged with carbon. Had to drill the holes after removing the rings.
Did a valve job, put in new rings and rod bearings. Solved the plug fouling. The engine didn't have any sludge in it. I didn't pull the engine. There are times when you have to tear
down an engine. This unleaded gas creates a lot
sticky gummy deposits. A gas stablizer should be used when you store a machine for long period's
of time. Hal

Hi Abe, You could try spraying WD40 into the cylinders, but I don't think that will work since
you can't put the WD40 on the rings. Have you checked the valve clearances to be be sure the
valves are closing fully? You should still have that .017" clearance when the valves are closed. I think you will have to tear that engine down if the valves are seating. Good Luck,
Hal
