I recently put a rebuilt generator on my 340, but now the amp guage shows discharge with the tractor running, and charge with it off and the lights on. only thing I disconnected was the generator.I don't know if it was discharging before or do I just need to swap the wires for the guage??

The fact that it shows charge with the engine off and the lights on sounds like reversed wires on the ammeter.

Hello,
I would check the battery with a voltmeter and notice the polarity of the battery and meter. - on battery to com or black on voltmeter. If it is a 6 volt system it should be around 7 volts some of the other folks would know closer and 12 volt system should be 14.5 volt. Also what is the voltage with the engine off? I would think with it showing charge with engine off and lights on something is wrong.. Best of luck in the troubleshooting. Mark
