Leland, The 400 is nothing but a Super M with more whistles and bells.
Technically it is a Stage IV Super M !!!!!
To a lot of guys thge LP is a negative. But for me I would rather have the LP setup over a gas burner anyday! So armed with this info, Go see the guy and offer accordingly. I would start very, very low then work you way up, Slowly!
I would guess that you should wind up some where around 800 to 1000. As long as the tin is straight, paint is nice and bright and pretty good rubber, if not stay low. Good Luck!
Later,
John A.

Leland,
Are you talking about the 400 that was located Sw of Charleston Il? If so, I was at the sale and it only bought $1150.00. Other than missing the orignal seat and IH emblem on the nosecone it was complete. The engine was also a 281 which is a 450 engine. When I looked at the tractor earlier in the week, the hoodsides were no where to be found and the showed up at the sale. I was with John A about the estimated worth of the 400 so it was not too far off. What really struck me as bringing a lot of money is the John Deere A next to it brought $2700.00. I have seen fully restored running tractors sell around $3000.00.

I have a Farmall 400 Torque Amplified that is currently not running. Up until a few weeks ago, it was running. I've replaced the battery and had the starter & solenoid rebuilt. Still not running. I am looking for a sale or trade. I use it to break up my horse riding arena. I run it once a week and the arena size is 120' x 235'. I don't know what is wrong with it or how much it will cost to get it fixed. Please advise.

Jay I alsoforgot to tell you a 400 case in paper for 3700.00 see what I mean about yuppies there good if you are selling but if you are buying good luck. These tractors would bring about 2200.00 at the most any were else.
