I had to replace the tie rod ends on my 986. The new ones were fitted with a grease fitting in the sheetmetal cap. i was wondering if the life would have been extended had I drilled and tapped the old ones before they were worn out. Anybody ever do this? If you have where would you drill them?

It seems to me that your old tie rod ends should have had grease fittings. Look them over closely, did they get knocked off or somthing, could the hole they were in be hidden by dirt?
