I was just wondering who makes the Case-IH oil for Case-IH? If it was made by Cheveron or Shell for instance, you could probably use either Delo or Rotella and get the same oil because I doubt one of the major oil companies would go to a lot of trouble to change the formula from what they are already making to sell under their own name.

There right about cheapest bidder. I used to drive a truck and would once in a while go to one of these hole in the wall blenders. who mixed motor oil for any body. like F.S, COOP, TSC,and so on.So anymore I am never sure were my oil came from even major brands, they will let anybody with a rail siding and a tank blend and bottle this oil anymore.

The oil sold by CNH is made by a company called Viscosity Oil.

Where is their refinery? I'm pretty sure Viscosity Oil is just a name behind about a dozen engineers. I know regionally here, in the past, Case/IH has been picked up directly out of the Cenex pipeline, and delivered right to the dealers.

Case/IH oil changes suppliers based on who has the lowest bid. And yes, the oil companies do change formulations. Here is why, when the OEM puts out what specs they want, the oil manufacturers will only do what is necessary for them to meet those specs. In other words, they will make the oil as cheaply as possible, while still passing the specs.

Now when the majors make the oil for their own brand, they not only have to meet Case's specs, John Deere's specs, etc., but THEIR name is tied to that oil. They will usually EXCEED the specs. laid out by the OEMs because THEIR reputation (and ultimately sales) is tied to it.
