Well guys...I have a IH484 diesel tractor for sale. Let me start from the beginning. I bought it and a Farmall Cub to put my 16 year old grandson and a pal of his, to work mowing pastures and the like. Well, he decided and his pal, would rather work inside at minimum wage. So now I am messing around to get my money back. The 484 is a dang good little tractor. I have had numerous fella's look at it, almost to a man: "if it were painted red, I would probally be interest"... You see it is yellow. What's the big deal! It's in great shape mechanically. Sooooo I guess, if I have to, I am going to repaint it red, put some decals on it, and we will see.

I too have a yellow (suspected old highway) tractor that was repainted red. I believe that many government agencies get much of their equipment, trucks and autos in off the floor colors because of the resale value. You have probably heard someone say "that is an old police car" Think it is safe to say that if it were red that you would have a much larger market.

Both tractors came from a local school sysytem. They received a grant and bought new equipmnet with it. I bought them because I know the tractors and the maintainece man that took care of them. He is a real nut for maintainence. Thanks for everyones thoughts. I will mull over what has been said. I have had the IH 484 on the YT site, but no luck as yet. I Think I have the Farmall Cub sold, if the fellow will get after it , and come an buy it.

highway dept uses yellow for the visibility. Hard to miss one and who else do you think of when you see a yellow truck or tactor ahead on the edge of the road?

It wasn't the color. Sit tight you will sell it if it is what you say. The guy who commented on the color was just a tire kicker. He probably didn't have the money anyway. There is a large segment of guys out there who can't seem to make a decision, without milling it over for days. I love it when one of them comes back to me about something and I tell them it is sold. Heck I have told them that I sold an item simply because I didn't want to deal with them. Some people's kids..... ...You know what I mean.

Is the yellow paint original to the tractor? If so, there is no way I would repaint it red. Take a picture of it, post it in the photo ads on this site, and see what happens.
