been busy haying and yard chores got ahead of me. There is more than one thing that a cow is good for. They get around and under stuff much better than a lawnmower and the best part is, I don't have to push them!

Cowman: You are on the right track, let me assure you. You however can acomplish more with a horse.

Close to 100 years ago a Mr. Willard Ervin of Stewiake, Nova Scotia, Canada, trained his driving horse to keep all the grass clipped around the house, not eat the flowers or shrubs and to go behind the barn to make his manure. I can remember Mrs Ervin in her senior years and she did keep extensive flower gardens. His son advised that it was very convenient as the driving horse was always close by if he was needed.

You try top that one with the modern day autonobile

As good as cattle prices are these days I would say that was a rich mans lawnmower.

Gents - remember that there are a lot of Canadians on this board too. To any of us who are in an agricultural area, cattle prices are rather a sore topic. I am in the heart of Alberta beef country and I just want to scream. I watched my friends and neighbours weather 4 years of drought. We finally get a good spring and 'BANG' the border to Canadian cattle slams shut. The anger of the whole situation is that if you talk to our farmer friends south across the border, they can't believe the border is still closed. It is gov't and the big business keeping the border closed now, not the average joe growing the cows.

Ok, I had my rant. I might have just stirred up a tempest in a tea-pot. I just hate to see all the farms around me going in the hole. It makes you want to scream some days.

And remember Nathan, cow pies are a lot like women, if you let them get some age on them they are easier to pick up.
