340 generator and voltage reg question

The generator on my 340 smoked, I got a new one but I don,t know which wire to put where. It has a smaller guage wire and a larger guage one, which one goes to the field and which one goes to the armature?? Also on the voltage reg which one is the batt, armature, it has 3 terminals on one side and one on the other

Yooper, run the larger of the two wires from the "Gen" terminal of the regulator to the "A" post on the generator, the smaller wire goes from the "F" terminal on the regulator to the "F" post on the generator. The "Gen" terminal is the single terminal on one side of the regulator. Look for the letters stamped into the tabs sticking out of the regulator. On the side with three terminals, the center one should be "Bat" with the other two being "F" and "L".
