I have 2, 560's ,one a diesel and everything perfect and new (my work tractor) and the other a swapped out gas combine engine in a diesel tractor, everyhting worn out several times. It is my loader tractor, sad as it is. Being a loader tractor it has a worn out hydraulic pump, the manual shows several different pumps.I don't care what pump it has as long as it will lift hay bales and run the power steering,I'll be happy. Will any of the pumps listed fit,What I am asking is if I go to the junk yard and just get any old pump from a 560 will it fit mine? Mine has a cessna pump.

Chris: from the information I've gleaned from the I&T manual for this series tractor, I don't recall any major stumbling blocks when swapping out pumps.

IH used both Cessna and Thompson as hydraulic pump suppliers for these tractors. I recently removed a shot Thompson and installed a rebuilt Cessna. The Cessna installed perfectly except for the pump drive gear: the key had to be shortened about 1/8".

Also, these tractors were equipped with 12 GPM pumps as standard with a 17 GPM pump as an option. There MAY be a problem with trying to install a 17 GPM pump in place of a 12 GPM and vice versa. I don't know how the the 17 GPM pump gets its rating--whether it simply is a larger pump and/or the pump is turned faster by way of different drive gear ratios. Check the S/N of your tractor. If I remember correctly, the S/N suffix for should end in "S-Y" for a tractor equipped with a 12 GPM pump.

The power steering pump piggy-backs on the hydraulic pump.

Chris the only difference I remember is the make and then if you have the planitary PTO or the later clutch type PTO the drive gear that drives the PTO and pump could be different beacuse of the PTO. I don't remember the mounting plate being different for the pump. If you go to junk yard how will you know you are getting a better pump.

Just a shot in the dark. But I don't want to give the $300 for a new pump to go on a whipped old tractor. Look for a pump off a tractor that either had physical damage or fire,That at least says it was working .
