My 1966 IHC 424 utility has a short in the wiring somewhere. The wiring on the tractor is not in good shape generally. I want to put a new wiring harness on, but I'm having trouble locating what I need. So, I come here to ask for help.

I'm looking for one (or more) of the following:

1.) A source for the wiring harness(es) needed to rewire the tractor.

2.) Directions for making my own wiring harness(es).

3.) A wiring schematic/diagram for the tractor that I can use (along with what is currently there) to make my own harness(es).

I thank you for your help!

Darryl

Darryl,

I got the service manuals from the site that hosts this board. They have everything mechanical and hydraulic, but no wiring. I have to rewire my entire 424 Diesel. What I plan to do is make a wiring harness by basically wiring each system up on it's own and then bundeling it all together. For example, I will wire up the generator and regulator, then wire up the starting and glow plug circuit, the instruments, and the lighting. If you take it one section at a time and think it out, and maybe refer to some older car wiring manuals with Delco electrical, it shouldn't be too hard....But I build police cars, so I am used to massive amounts of complicated wiring. Email me if you want some help figuring it out.

Josh
