I have a 1926 McCormick Deering 1020 on steel. Is there a way to convert it to rubber? I've seen 10-20's on rubber, did they come that way or were they converted?
Thanks for any info.

GREG,
What part of the country are you from? I have a set of front and rear cutoffs for rubber tires.

Dave,
Thanks for the followup, I'm in Dallas. Forgive me for being stupid but what are 'cut-offs'?
Thanks,
Greg

"cutoffs" are the term used when the old farmers would cut out the center of the steel wheels and weld on the rims for rubber tires. This was common years ago when factory rubber wheels were hard to come by or non-existant. I am from Pa. You should be able to find some wheels for your tractor closer to Texas. They are pretty common.
Good luck.

1926 10-20s did not come out on factory pnuematic tires. Industrials were available on hard rubber, but I am assuming yours is the farm version. Countless tractors were converted from steel to rubber at the local dealership or blacksmith shop. Your rear axles are more than likely the keyed type (as opposed to the splined type) so factory rubber wheels are not available. You can easily find a set of rear cutoffs if you really want them. I have several sets right now. Gladly trade them for steel!

Mike,
Thanks for responding. I want to keep the original steel wheels but am interested in putting rubber on it. Where abouts are you located and what would you take for a set.
My email address is glosnik@dallas.net.
Thanks,
Greg

I am from Ohio, so I think that the distance is a little far. You should be able to find a set much closer than me. Run an ad on YT and see what you find. Good Luck!!
