I got an old H running and had noise comming from the power lift chamber. Put oil to the full mark
and noise was louder and oil poured out the bottom plate. I pushed the lift lever all the way forward and stopped most of the noise.
My manual does not show a schemaic of the lif pump. How is it connected to the drive shaft?
can tractor be used with pump off?

On the bottom of the tractor just in back of the hyd pump ( may be a plate with 2 0r 4 cap screws in , take that off and you will see a good size shaft with large cotter keys in it, pull keys out, slide collars toward the center of the shaft and let shaft slide down, (dont get under it while taking shaft out, it is heavy) might give you a bloody nose. You can run the tractor with no problem, as long as you want. Be sure and save the shaft, you may want put hyds back in.

The pump is an optional accessory, the tractor will run either with it, or without it. If you don't need it, drop it out, but get some help, it is very heavy. If you get under the tractor and look, you will see a cover plate behind the pump, should be 4 bolts holding it on. Remove the bolts, drop the plate, and then you can see what you need to do.
