Howdy, Y'all!

The other day we were talking about bad luck and whatnot. This last Friday, I was attempting to "mulch" some small branches and whatnot with the brush hog. I made my first run and as soon as I hit the brush, there was this loud bang from behind and I immediately looked back while throttling down and pressing in the clutch.

The PTO shaft didn't seem to be turning and I figured I just had another broken keyway. Today I pulled off the assembly and discovered that I was right. But wait, there's more! I also discovered the entire casting of the housing was now defective. The area of the housing where the PTO shaft bearings go cracked in 4 distinct pieces, revealing the inner bearing almost completely.

Obviously a major malfunction.

Does anyone know where I can get another housing and/or PTO assembly for my little red tractor. Betty (that's her name) likes to run and can't do her job properly without this replacement. On top of that, I just secured a paying gig to mow someone's "lawn" of about 10 acres. I really gotta have that part...

I live in Bastrop, Texas, about 40 miles east of Austin. I am really pretty new at this sort of thing and I know Tractor Supply can't help with this particular thing. If anyone knows someone with an old dead A or B model with ser # lower than 66671, please have them contact me via my email address. Also, if anyone knows what a fair or reasonable price for just the housing or for the entire assembly, that would also be very helpful.

Thanks all,
Christopher

Chris,

Try Cranfills Gap Tractor Parts, 254-597-2217. I know they have a couple A's and a B, so they are very likely to have what you are looking for. Their prices are very reasonable, and they will ship to you. The Gap is a fair drive from Bastrop, so that would be your easiest solution in my opinion.

Good luck.
