My old H backfired through the exhaust a few times and died. I have voltage at the points but no spark, could the timing chain have slipped? The rotor turns in the distributer but no spark. Any suggestions to gittin her runnin again?

As others said, probably need to check the timing. But if it slipped out of time, you probably have some problem in the distributer as Farmall H's don't have timing chains. They are gear driven from the crankshaft to idler to camshaft to distributor. I have seen problems with the small drive gear in the distributor if it hasn't been lubricated. May check for cracked distributor cap also. Roger

Thanks for the info ,I have put new points, plugs, condeser and cap and wires on it. It does have gas in it. Probably a timing problem. Again, thanks for all the help.

No spark can't be a timing problem; it'll still fire, just at the wrong time. Sure sounds like points/condensor to me.

bring it up on TDC #1 and check the rotor pointing at #1 on the distributor cap.

My H does that everytime I forget to check the gas tank. Not trying to be a wise*** or anything, but did you look in yours?

I would try a new condenser first and clean adjust or replace the points. JON

What the H! If the spark is missing, lightly file the points, use compressed air to blow away any metal filing residue, spray the point contacts with a couple blasts of ether(starting fluid to elimanate even the smallest amount of finger oil or engine oil, then rotate engine to highest point opening and measure to be sure it is in spec. Check for ignition firing during the dark of night as needed.
Takes a lot to stop a Farmall, older rigs all sounded the same when they come to life. Good luck.
