Farmall Super C for mowing

Looking at a couple of Super C WFE tractors. My need is to finish the job of bringing the 13 acres of old fairly flat fields back, and then mowing it regularly - I'm not planning to hay.
Question: should I get a 3-point conversion for it (if there is such a thing);
And is this a good tractor for bushhogging and finish mowing?
Thanks.

The Super C should handle a 5 ft bush hog OK. You will need and over running clutch for the PTO so the bush hog inertia won't push you when you want to stop forward motion. You can get a 3 point conversion for the Super C from Saginaw County Tractor. If you don't have a hydraulic remote, you will have to add that to work the cylinder for the 3 point. Worksaver makes a 3 point conversion that works off the rockshaft arms. However the rockshaft arms are not strong enought to lift much on the 3 point and the arms that pass from the rockshafts to the back are in the way. You can get a finish mower from Woods. You can get a belly mower or one that goes on the 3 point hitch. All this "stuff" is going to cost you quite a bit more than you probably will have to pay for a fairly decent Super C.

Although all this stuff is nice to have it is not required. They do make brush hogs that mount to your drawbar. They are not as convenient, but it would save a lot of money. The super C does a nice job of brush hogging with a 5' hog as long as the grass is not too thick and you’re not trying to mow with it too low. Yes if you want to stop on a dime you'll need what Haas mentioned. But if you don't mind waiting for the PTO to stop before you stop again you'll save money. Or you could just turn the PTO off to stop fast but then you'll have to wait for the blades to stop before you can put it back in gear. The SC will do a nice job with a woods finishing mower. As long as you don't have a lot of low hanging trees to go under this should be a great tractor for what you need. Best of luck to you.

It's gonna be tough to get the PTO out of gear(and hard on the shifting mechanism) if there is a load on it, which there would be if it is pushing the tractor. I think for bush hogging, the overrunning clutch is essential.
