As part of the agreement that resulted in the Case-New Holland merger, Case had to sell the old IH factory in Doncaster, England, and give up the rights to the McCormick name. That is where the current McCormicks are built. So, there is no longer any relation between CNH and McCormick -- except that the local New Holland dealer sells McCormicks. CNH is a subsidary of Fiat.

CNKS: Do we really know who owns what these days. 15 years ago when I was still involved in commercial farming, it was a well known fact the entire food industry across North America, from seed to the dinner plate, was controlled by 5 corperate families. It is my opinion that number is reduced even further by now and they indeed control the food chain of the entire world. Yes even Fidel Castro's Cuba.

Jerry: The current status of an answer for a question like that, would be much better asked on Wall St.

A Case/Kubota dealer in my town just started selling the McCormick tractors. I also was wondering if they're foreign-built, were a remnant of the McCormick-Deering company, etc. Jim Baber

Jim: When I made the remark check with Wall St., I was just trying to point out who really knows for sure what corperate interests own companies.

McCormick tractors do have a history link to IH and are being built at the old IH plant at Doncaster, England. I don't know the specifics of the deal, but CaseIH farmed the plant and McCormick name out to I think Landini. ( I will stand corrected on that one.) They also received rights to certain CaseIH products and patents.

We think of Landini as a mainland European company, but who knows for sure what interests own Landini. Might be CaseIH, might be the McCormick family of America, might be John Deere, etc.
