Carp: Don't know how similar they are but I have a manual for the 240. My understanding in 76-77 was 241 was same as 240 with some improvments. I never compared the 2 machines, item by item. If intereseted send me an email. I'll never use this manual, and it is like new.

the book only gives a minimum length of 424" for the upper belts. it says that belts less than 424" must be lengthened. it also says to check belt length variation thus: raise the rear gate all the way open and measure the sag midpoint from the bottom roller on the gate, to a straight line to the roller above the front hold down roller (sag on the long exposed part of belt). if sag exceeds 8", mark these belts, close gate and adjust belt length as required affecting the least number of belts. an 8" sag indicates approx 5" of belt length difference.
btw, the 241 operator's manual is part # 1095094R1.

Go longer rather than shorter on the upper belts. We had a 241 or a 2400,I can't remember now,but I remember we re-laced the belts and shortened them to the minimum length and they pulled several laces out. I ended up splicing in a 6 or 8 inch piece of belt into every one. I really liked the old baler,we replaced it with a NH 851 chain job and I don't like it at all !!
