Have been having trouble with the strength of the spark on my 1940 Farmall B, hard starting, in fact it won`t even start now. About 3/16 inch by snapping the impulse. Other mags give about 1/2 inch blue and start well. All new points, rotor , condensor and coil. Is it possible that the magnets have lost their strength after 60 yrs and need attention, if so how is it done? As always thanks to all who would care to comment.

It is almost impossible to Have a bad magnet on an H4 mag has to be another problem. It could have the cam lobe out of time. Its hard to exsplain maybe someone has the link to the blue ribbon service manual that tells how to check real well. I have several rebuilt Mags let me know if you cant figure it out. JON

BEL, double check you point gap, and it would not be the first time a condenser was bad out of the box. Also, make sure the contact on the coil is aligned properly with the contact on the mag cap, and that there is no corrosion on the mag cap contact. HTH
