Is it possible to use the hydraulic system on a super c to run a remote cylinder on a planter? If so, what do I need and where do I get it ? Any help would be appreciated. Ed

Ed,,I had the setup, but someone "borrowed" it...It was basically a plate that bolted onto the pump where the touch control manifold went,,then it had to places for lines on the plate,,the lines ran to the valve and then to your cylinder, oh yeah,,it had a tank in the system too,, any fab place should be able to build the plate easily,,Jim

I can think of 3 methods that don't require butchering the existing system. In order of probable decreasing cost:

1) Find an original IH remote cylinder attachment. It has a different manifold, the rear of which connects to a specially designed 2 way valve that goes between the manifold and Touch Control block.

2) Add a special diverter block that fits between the manifold and TC block. It can then be plumbed into a standard 2 way valve. IH made these blocks and they are available from aftermarket sources. The Saginaw suggestion is probably in this category.

3) Plumb in a standard 2 way valve from the pressure tap at the back of the manifold and run the return into the filler plug. You have to block one of the Touch Control arms to the rear and run it's control lever forward. This disables both Touch Control arms.

Any of these methods may require an auxiliary reservoir, depending on the size cylinder you use.

You need to get a valve and a manifold with a return to slip between the touch control unit and the piping. Saginaw County Tractor will probably sell the setup to you because the manufacture the manifold to sell with their 3 point hitches.

I removed the stock hydraulic system except for the pump. Then I built a supply tank to fit in the area under the gas tank and act as a support for the gas tank. I cut the original pipes going to the pump and welded 1/2” pipe couplings onto them. I have the fill for the tank a 1/2” pipe coupling on the air cleaner (left) side and drilled a hole in a 1/2” pipe plug to vent it. I have a 1/2" coupling at the bottom of the pump (right) side and have a nipple and a tee on this. I mounted a valve spool with a pressure relief valve on the top of the steering support where the original hydraulic controls were. The pressure side of the pump goes to the valve spool, and a hose(s) for pressure (could be single or double acting) to the rear of the tractor. The return from the valve spool goes to the tee at the bottom of the tank, and the suction side of the pump is also connected to this tee. The system works great as long as you have a big enough cylinder on the implement.

Maybe someone else out there knows of a way to do both. LOL…
