I have a 46' BN Farmall. its all stock but a good running tractor. its got weights and fluid in the tires and weighs about 2800#. My buddy has a 1935 unstyled john deere B. it has cut off rears with 10-38's on it. No added weight.. I think these tractors have around the same hp.,but i also know they are completly different.. Im guessing the B is around the same weight as well. What do u think has more pulling power and why? my buddy and i keep joking about "hooking up back to back",but probably never will. anyway, i'm just curious what u guys think

I'd latch them to a pulling sled and end the controversy. It's going to depend a great deal on the current condition of these old girls. They are not spring chickens. They may not have all the enthusiasm they once displayed.

There is not a bit of doubt in this matter. I don't even know why you would wonder. What is wrong with you guys? My BN would eat the B. An M that runs like a JD 50? There is something sadly wrong with that M.

This is not a fair comparison. You can not go by rated horsepower alone as it is the torque that actually does the work and the driveline setup that applies the power to the ground. I am partial to the red ones but in this case I would bet on the the JD. A closer comparison would be to put it against a Farmall H which would most likely walk away with the Deere.

I have a 1935 unstyled b and my neighbor has a b farmall, both tractors have been restored and are in good shape. i have a 5 disc disc tiller made by john deere and my b pulls it better than the b farmall. the john deere engine has a lot more torque (longer stroke and heaver flywheel) than the farmall b. the engine in the farmall lugs down a lot more than the john deere. the two tractors are about the same weight but the john deere just pulls better than the farmall

I would put my bet on the JD B. I would think that the B JD would be closer to the H Farmall in pulling power. The B Farmall is the same as the A Farmall which would not be in the same class as the B JD. The M Farmall and the JD A were about the same also in pulling power. My 2-cents

Sorry I didnt notice the year of the B JD. Well you got me because I do know JD made some changes to the styled models in HP and looks. Dont hook them up to each other its too dangerous. Get a plow and try each on it and you will tell which is stronger. I have a M farmall and a 50 JD A and there is very little diffrence in the two pulling. I am partial to the red tractors but the A JD seems to be a little stronger.
