Cracked Cub Head

Just purchased a Cub. Has a cracked head in the water jacket on top surface of the head between # 2 and 3 cylinder. Cub runs fine. No evidence of a crack on the combustion side of the head.

My thought, without removing the head from the block, is to grind a shallow "V" along the crack, heat (warm up) the head along the crack with a propane torch, then apply JB Weld to the crack. I have tried this before on other castings but never a head.

If this doesn't work, I'll spring for another head.

Your opinions.

I had a cub with a crack on top. Somebody had plastered over top rather sloppily but it never leaked the 6 tears I owned it.

Not a real fan of JBweld but it'd probably work.

I'd probably look for a better product.

Here are some possibilities, although I've not tried them, they look pretty good.
