The person I bought my 300U from told me to use generic farm tractor hydraulic fluid in the hydraulics (This is the same guy that told me the transmission fill plug was the hydraulic fill plug!). Is this correct or should I replace the fluid with Hy-Trans? (I'm still waiting for my opertor's manual but am getting antsy and want to do something!

Hytran is best but there are a lot of good universal oils out there, just dont get too price conscious.

Thanks for the info. I know what you mean by price. I've been checking around and it varies from $20 to $45 per five gal. Ron

Ron, what I've done on my 300U is use Hy-Tran in the hydraulics but the cheaper universal stuff in the transmission. The generic should work fine in the hydraulics as well, but since I had enough Hy-trans for the hydraulics, I used it there.

Big Fred: Thanks for the info. I overfilled the tranny when the guy I bought it from told me the tranny fill was the hydraulic fill. Fluid ran all over the ground from the rear axle outside seals. I'm thinking of putting 90w or a mixture of 90w & hrdraulic in the tranny to see if it still leaks or if I need to replace the seals. Ron
