I am wondering what the thermostat temp should be. I ordered one and it was 180 degrees I think the book says 160 degrees. If I put a 180 degree thermostat will it hurt anything? or should I get a 160

I believe both were available from the company. The stamped temperature rating on the thermostat is 15 degrees lower than most automotive thermostats and 32 degrees lower than the boiling point of water. The 7 pound pressure cap also raises the boiling point 28 degrees. In order for an engine to be efficent it should reach at least 180 degrees.I don't see where you have a problem.
