I have the oppurtunity to purchase the above with cab, power steering, power looader for £2500. (im in the UK)

Is this a fair deal?

What do i need to watch out for except checking that the handbrake works?

How much can i sensibly move weight wise with the loader? Are the front axles any good?

Thanks in advance

Ben (UK)

Hi, in Canada a 584 with cab & 2250 loader would be about $17,000 CDN. see URL.
My brother has 495 (one size smaller than 584) with 2250 Quick Attach loader on it. The 2250 is a great loader but it is to heavy for front end on 495. I wanted him to put the loader on his 684 but he insisted on the 495 and has sheared off hub bolts, split the channel iron on the front axle etc.

But I believe the 584 has the same front axle as 684 which is much heavier. So you should be good.

These are great tractor except for the parking brake problems. Always be sure to use only IH Hytran fluid in hydraulics/transmission.
If it has a T/A when the T/A is in High position this is direct drive and LO position is in T/A drive.
A quick check of T/A is to put tractor on a steep slope with front pointing down the slope.
With T/A in High position and gear shift in 4th High range, turn the engine off and engage the clutch and don't touch the brakes the tractor should not roll forward. If it does roll forward it should turn the engine over. Repeat again with T/A in LO position.

Good luck
JB

The front axles are many and varied, the heavy duty axle was strong, usual things, the parking brake wont work!,if it has torque amplifier check it very carefully, wear on the steering ram (2WD tractor ?) £2,500 is about right for a loader tractor in fair order, but it depends on the make and model of the loader and the amount of rear ballast used as to how mutch you can lift and move.
