Farmall Super H Recommendations

I am considering finding/buying a Farmall Super H tractor for a restoration project and to use for some light hobby farming, including giving it a try in front of my JD 14T baler!

My Wife's Grandfather owned one of these years ago. He bought it new and farmed with it until he retired back in the middle 70's. That where I got the idea of what tractor to restore.

My property is a bit more hilly than his - sooo, I'd like to find a wide front end version - if they were made.

My question is - what should one look for when buying one of these in terms of desirables and undesirables? Is there a significant difference between the H and the Super H with respect to hp and parts availability?

Any other advise would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Bill

Wide fronts, narrow fronts, and single front wheels all interchange. The hp of the H is about 25, the Super H about 31. Second, 3rd and 4th gears, particularly 3rd and 4th are faster on the Super H. This means that the Super H "may" not pull a larger implement in 3rd or 4th, but it will pull it faster. Parts are readily available, even those unique to the Super H. The main undesireable, particularly for a baler, is that the PTO is not live. The Super H is subject to the same problems that any 50 year old tractor might have, on average no better or worse.

I spent a little time pulling an IH #37 (I think) baler with My Super H. Ran it fairly well on one of Our hillier fields. But The absense of LPTO I think possibly a 300 or 350 Farmall with T/A & LPTO may be a wiser choice. Plus they each add a couple more PTO HP over the model before.
