I know this will offend all the purists but I have replaced the generator on my 100 with a GM alternator. Are there any sources for info on this conversion. I am having charging problems.

JD

Sure! Post back the type of Delco alternator (interal or externally regulated), and describe exactly the 'charging problem'...

This may sound a bit stupid, but how do I tell the difference between internal and external regulator? I'm having the same type of problems on a Cletrac dozer with a GM inline 6. There are 3 wires on the alt, the heavy red battery lead and the two smaller guage (field?) wires in the white plastic clip. Whith this clip plugged in, the amp guage pegs continuously to the extreme right. With it unplugged, it reads only slightly to the right of the zero mark. Thank you to everyone for your help.
