Just purchased a SMTA started working with it. It has Behlen power steering with the distributor ran in line. The tractor died as if you shut the key off and I noticed oil around the distributor. I took the cap rotor and cover off and it was full of rusted looking oil? What do I need to do to cure the problem? Thanks, Mark

I had the same problem. You have to pull the distributer, take it apart all the way down to removeing the distributer gear and shaft. In side there is a worn o-ring. The manual calls it an oil seal but it is an o-ring that can be replaced. Get a shop manual that will give you a nice exploided view of all the internal distributer parts. Before pulling the distributer set it on the No. 1 cylinder so that it can returned there after you reassemble it.
It worked on our SMTA, Good luck!

The problem is going to be the seal in the hudraulic pump. With failure of that seal, the pump will force the oil into the disributor.
