I'm about ready to tear into the under the dash hydraulic valves on the Farmall 300 in order to fix several leaks, does anyone have a favorite sealer for this application? Appreciate your response. Dick Davis

Dick, I really don't think using sealing tape is a good idea for hydraulics. Inside your hydratouch valves are very small fine screens that would not take much to plug. You can get high quality hydraulic paste type sealant from your local hydraulic shop. Another thing is the hydratouch on a Farmall 300 uses O-rings so I'm not sure where your wanting to use thread sealant. I have used nothing but new O-rings on my 300F, 300U and 400F and have no leaks.

Hi Dick, I always used teflon tape on hydraulic
fittings and also used Gasoila that's a soft set
thread sealant. Here's the toll free number. Most plumbing companies carry this. It's 1-800-
846-7325. It will withstand pressure to 10,000-lbs. The web site is www.federalprocess.com.

I sometimes use a light coating of Gasoila over the teflon tape. Hal

Keep us posted on how you make out with working on the 300 hydraulic controls. I had my 400 valves apart and just installed new "O" rings between the sections. I seem to have a leak now but haven't taken the time to investigate. Since I don't live in a corner of Iowa I just figured I would follow your lead and use my name for the fourm.
