At the front of my 300U hydraulic pump is a reservoir with a 2-3 inch cap on it. It looks as if it is for filling the pump. None of my manuals show this reservoir. Is it for hydraulic fluid? The same as for the transmission/hydraulics? There is no dip stick attached and I can see to the bottom of it. Looks like it goes into the pump but is currently dry.

The hydrualic reservior is under the seat. The dipstick/filler and breather are also under the seat. You should get a manual - availible on this site. It will help you with a lot of things - including maintenance items. Irv

Thanks for the info. I have been thinking hydraulics all week and if I had looked in my manual better I would have found the oil fill cap. When I didn't find the info in the hydraulic section I freaked. Thanks again

Ron That wing nut cap is where you put in the engine oil, should be dip stick for engine on right side by engine oil filter or the 2 cocks in the pan on the right side. Trace the 2 lines coming off bottom of the hydraulic pump you will find the resevor the 300 farmall was right behind the gas tank If I remember right the 300U was under the seat.
