A friend of mine has a 1206 that the PTO will not shut off. All the linkage on the outside appears fine. Anyone give me a heads up on what to look for. he has been cutting hay with this rig and the PTO is work just fine (no slipping) just will not shut off.

Thanks for the info BUDD

There is a possibility that the PTO has been slipping under load and the clutch disks got hot enough to weld themselves together.Smell the Hy-Tran and see if it smells burnt.

Budd the brakes are spring loaded when you pull the lever up to run the hydraulic pressure releases the brakes and when you stop the PTO the spring aply yhe brake so I would thing brake pads are bad.

Aces I have never seen this type of PTO setup so bear with me. The tractor will operate the PTO with the lever in any position. He mows hay with this and even with it in the off position it does not slip. It is almost like there is a linkage off inside, but not sure. If the brake was bad it would keep running, but you would not be able to use it with out slippage, right.

Thanks again BUDD

Budd no linkage in side yes you are right if it was just the brakes it should not pull a load. The lever connect to a valve that comes out the top left or the PTO housing does it move up and down with the lever. if you take the nut off the top of the valve it should go out the bottom of the housing there is a hex plug with o ring you will have to remove you will have some oil come out, may want to put front end of tractor down hill or drain oil, you will have to remove some of the hitch to get the valve out, just thinking could be stuck. There is a little plug on the left side to but gauge to test pressure about 7/16 hex with o ring.

Hi, there is an small spring pin on the PTO valve spool, inside the PTO body,it may be broken. Remove the linkage and the lower plug, to remove the spool and replace the pin. Bernard le mécano Québec Canada
