H diesel and TA?

My father and uncle both ran a 350 diesel when they started out farming as kids. They both loved the tractor and still talk about it today. We have tried to find one for a long time with no luck. I believe it had a Perkins diesel?

Anyway, I saw the post from a few days ago about the Red Power Roundup and the H on display there. What would one need to do to make a Super HTA? Is it simply changing the center section, or does one need to change the rear end as well?

A dealer in Avoca, I think, made two of them, and both are now owned by the fella that makes Kinze planters.

Secondly, would that diesel out of a 350 bolt into an H?

Hugh and Guy:
You guys are fast, I just realized I goofed on the engine make and was posting to correct it. Thanks. So Hugh, you are saying start with a 350 and add H parts instead of the other way around?

Dan: Another item on this HTA subject, I'll bet there has been more MTA's built using 400 and 450 chassis than HTA's using 300 or 350 chassis. I really cant understand that one as 400 and 450 are just as rare as MTA. I think if I had a 350D, I would be just as happy with it as a Super HTA. I suppose you could build this with quick tach steering mast, hydraulics and sheet metal, and switch it depending on which show you are planning to attend. That would really mix them up.

I agree with Hugh about MTA creations. MTA production in our area is a good business. Guys are willing to pay $2000 more for MTA's than for 400 or 450's. I know of several guys who go at it big time. Also there seems to be a lot of 400 & 450 tractors in Western , Pa.

Dan: There you go, Dave has a 350D he will sell you.

In building one of these HTA, there may be somw merrit in using a SH engine, however in my opinion why bother as HTA never existed as far as IH was concerned. So why make this project more difficult than it needs to be. When people see these HTA they are usually amazed, and shower the owner with praises on the workmanship. My guess is that the hardest part of the job is putting the mast for steering, controls and light bar on.

Dan: It was a Continental diesel and you are trying to make the HTA more complicated than it really is. The entire lower half is completely 300 or 350. You just mount SH sheet metal, hydraulics steering post, etc.

The Diesel IH used in the 350 was a Continental.
