I recently purchased a 1948 H. It starts and runs good, but lacks power. Any ideas on what the cause of this might be or what to check? I got manuals ordered but there not in yet.
Thanks

The first thing I would do is give it a good tune-up, or at least a good inspection of the plugs, points, etc. If all looks good then advance the timing a bit at a time, just play it by ear. Could make a big differance.
Point gap is .020" if you have a distributor, .016" for a magneto.
Spark plug gap is .025" I think, might be off on that one.

Consider cleaning the fuel tank. If the sediment bowl is showing pudding on the bottom, and something like fish food flakes are floating in the gasoline, that's the clue.
