Well I got the head off the catastrophic H motor today I cant find any visable cracks anywhere. The Back cylinder had a valve open and was full of water but the sleeve wasnt cracked the next two had a little junk in them and # 1 was clean. I did not see anything wrong with the head gasket either.there is either something I cant see or somebody dumped a gallon of antifreeze in the block. Anybody know how much the going rate for magnufluxing is? Or is there a easier way to check a block or head. Thanks JON

Is the motor stuck? (I bet it is) if so, the crack could be down lower than the top of the piston. If you have the pan off, check the cylinder walls below the pistons for bad rust.

There is a steel plate on the front of the engine behind the timing gears, over a lot of years I've seen the soft plug behind it leak, into the pan. Watch for water (anti freeze) there.

jon. i had the same problem with an H a few years ago. anti freeze getting in the oil..
this happened after an overhaul.the sleeves werent cracked, which even if they were shouldnt cause a leak.

the problem was the block was cracked where the sleeve fits. a slight crack in the side of the block. the way i found mine was i pulled the oil pan and filled the block wirh anti freeze. and sure enouh there was a drip from #2 clyinder between the sleeve and the block.
i hope this isnt your problem but if it is i think it can be repaired.

good luck and hope the block isnt cracked
