Just got a IHC 424 Diesel - PTO guage question

I just picked up a 424 Diesel over the weekend. I need to do quite a bit of work on it, and I'm waiting for a service manual to arrive. I thought I would get the advice of others before I start.

I have 2 problems that I think are related: The clutch slips and PTO does not turn. Does this sound right? I realize the machine will have to be split to do the clutch.

The power steering and remote hydraulics work fine, but there is no hitch action. The arms hang down, and can be lifted by hand.

I have electrical problems also, but I can deal with that easily. However, the center gauge (fuel, temp, and idiot lites) is bad, physically damaged. I can find tachometers, but not this one. It looks like the one that was in an old Loadstar truck we had. Might this be an instrument that was used in trucks, also?

And advice for me before this project gets started? I have only removed the sheet metal to get a look at things and have parked it until I get my books and any other info. I guess I have better finish up my old Holt before starting the International.

Thanks,
Josh

Hi Josh, for the 3pt problem, are there some hydraulic control valves on the casting in front of the seat? One should have <=FAST SLOW=> and the other <=ON OFF=> or maybe REMOTE stamped on it.
The ON/OFF or REMOTE valve controlls the routing of the hydraulic oil flow to a Remote cylinder or the 3pt hitch. Try turning this valve in the other direction and see if your 3pt hitch works.

Good luck JB
