I have a 460 split for clutch replacement and clutch housing shows some evidence of oil leaking past the rear engine seal. Manual shows replacing the rear oil seal with a couple of special tools. Can the seal be replaced without the special tools, or would I be better off to leave it alone?

I've replaced it without the special tools. Now's the time to get that seal replaced, or you might just end up doing another clutch job in the near future. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, it would probaly be a good idea to have a Case-IH dealership mechanic come look at it.

KB- thanks! Any tips on installing the seal? I've already got it ordered, might as well put it in...just didn't want to take a stab at it if special tools were required.
