Wondering if you could haul a Super M with a widefront on the UHaul auto trailer - did with a Ford 8N with no problem - wondering if a Super M would work?? The UHaul trailer has surge brakes.

I used a U-Haul 5 ton trailer to haul a 650D for 400 miles. It was a fendered trailer. To get proper weight distribution, I had to load the 650 over the front of the trailer with the tractor drawbar facing the truck. In other words, it looked like I had backed it on from the back of the trailer which would not have been possible due to the fenders. U-Haul called this dual axel trailer an "equipment trailer" and was much heavier than a car trailer. I had no problems running the NY State Thruway and Mass Pike at 60-65 MPH.

Check with Ryder trucks, they have trailers that look like they will haul an M. I used one of their trucks to haul my M from Montana to Washington, cost was $400.

I hauled a 53 SM factory wide front last year. I measured the u-haul trailer and the tractor would fit within the fenders but one side of the tractor would be riding a few inches outside the recessed tracks. According to their web site it was more weight than they allow. It was however less than the stamped max weight on the unit itself as long as the tires are not filled. I opted to rent from a local trailer sales center. I used a 3/4 ton Dodge and hauled over 700 miles with no problems...

If the U-haul trailer you are talking about has a full deck, you need to have one wheel dished in to fit between the wheel wells. The capacity of the trailer (trailer plus tractor) must be at least 7500-8000 lbs, depending on whether or no it has wheel weights, loaded tires, etc. Since the lighter car trailers usually only have two 3500 lb axles, a "normal" car trailer will be overloaded.

I looked into that a few years ago and Mt M would not physically fit on any of there trailers. I needed a deck over trailer for my M.
