I thought you all might like to see my wheat harvest for 2004. I have posted these on some other forums, but not this one, so I hope this isn't too redundant to anyone! Anyway this is my 1944 IH McCormick-Deering 52R combine. It is a sacker machine with the optional Continental Y-69 power unit. This is the second season I have used it. It's in original condition and in good mechanical shape. I also have a Cub-powered 52R with a grain bin I hope to have ready to go next year. It is in nicer shape than this one but the valves are sticky on the engine.

You can cut n' paste the url's below to see the other pictures:

That brings back memories! We had a combine about like that, but it was PTO and run with our MD. However, it was junk when last I remember it. The lift mechanism was a crank and latch system that was too weak. The cutting mechanism fell down a couple of time while the thing was under way digging into the ground before you could get stopped. Believe me that really messed things up and called for extensive repairs which were not done very well. Don't know what ever happened to it. I suppose it was sold by my folks after I left home.

That looks neat! It's good to see the classic equipment put to work. Enjoyable post Al.
