Hi Elmer; my A is was very noisy in reverse and first after looking and looking I determined that the reverse idler had too much wear,so I changed it, its ok now.thats the only gear you can change from up above it was easy. jimmy

One of my childhood memories of growing up on the farm was the soothing high pitched hum from our super C as Grandpa drove it around and I rode on the trailer behind. That was 30 years ago, I had the tractor totally rebuilt and restored two years ago and the transmission was fine.

I got the same, mostly in 1st. Everybody I've talked to said don't worry about it, just live with it.

Would suspect gear wear. Could be a bearing going out. One of my C's has quite a growl in 3rd gear. I have never gone in to look at it. Suspect that it is due to gear wear. If I ever get to the point where I total go through my tractor then I will investigate it at that time.
