You need to remove the axle/bull gear retaining cap. You can either remove the transmission top cover plate like gene b said or you can remove the pto housing. There is an opening into the rear-end/transmission housing. It is a tight fit with your arm. There are two long-winded fine threaded bolts that hold the cap on. Taking it apart you will have to use a rachet to get them out. Of course mine turned too easy for the rachet and too hard for my fingers but I finally got them out. Used a long handle 9/16" box end wrench. A Farmall mechanic buddy said that they jack up the back wheel and then put a wrench on the bolt and slowly rotate the rear tire to spin the bolts out. You probably won't be able to do this to get it apart but is should work when you put it back together.

Remove the top cover on the trans then you can remove the rest of the axle. At least it worked for me when i had to replace the oil slinger gear. Was a while ago but if I remember correct there is a cap of some kind holding the bull gear on the end of the axle and it pulled of the end easy.

I LOOKED IT UP IN MY OLD PARTS CATALOG..... YOU REMOVE THE AXLE AND AXLE HOUSING, THEN REMOVE THE OUTER BEARING AND SEAL RETAINER, THEN REMOVE THE INNER BEARING RETAINER....I CAN'T TELL YOU IF ITS A PRESS FIT OR NOT, ....GET A BLOCK OF WOOD AND A SLEDGE, AND SEE IF IT WILL MOVE
