I am an IH guy at heart, but you bite off more than you are going to be able to chew. Good luck though.

That's a good way to get hit in the head with a broken tow chain...

Nothing against IHs, but a 544, and a hydro nonetheless, is not the tractor I'd choose to represent for the red crowd. The Ford will walk away with you because 544s are gutless in the first place, and the hydro will slip.

Thanks for all the responses,i am way yonder to old(been around) to pull with a tow chain, going to use cable i have winched d-9 out with,i may have bit off more than i can chew,i will tell either way on here tonight,(i don't think i have),the 4000 is right at 54 ponies, the 544 is pulling above 55,but they are 55 red horses!i would not even accept the pull if it was not for his wise___ son's mouth.i told him to belly up,my money is on Red,post results later,,,thanks-Jeff

Your probably in bad shape. Your Hydro will slip and whine. Gear drive Ford might get you. If gear drive, no problem for you, but Hydro, BIG problem....Cmore

hook it up and tear him a new ford hole. A 544 hydro weighs in at 6600 lbs and a ford 4000 weighs 3610 if it is the newer 3 cyl one and it weighs 4400 if it is the old 4 cyl one. Let that old binder stretch him out.
